Mrs.Tosto can you please fix the time, its confusing.

The Outsiders

Please tell me how you like it.

In S.E. Hinton's 'Outsiders' characters make decisions because of events that took place prior to that moment that connect like a chain. But once they make a decision, it doesn't stop there. These decisions become events and what's the result...more events. Ponyboy walks alone...Ponyboy& Johnny are on the run after Johnny kills the Soc. You would've never thought these two events in 'The Outsiders' had anything to do with each other. Hard to bekieve how much opposites attract. Want to know how these two events are chained together? Let's find out.

The Cartel

Sometimes things we admire in characters influence the qualities or characters within ourselves. In Ashley & JaQuavis novel The Cartel, a main character Miamor really leaves an impression on the reader. Her demeanor and overall attitude towards life, as well as her actions allow one to think more creatively and crafty.

Fallen by Lauren Kate

The setting often affects us in life whether or not we realize it. It may make us modest, conceited, open-minded or hard-headed. It affects our moods and attributes, but most importantly, life. In Fallen by Lauren Kate, Lucy is constantly depressed by the death-stricken walls and the stench of rot and mold.

Do you think it's too technical?

NEW AND IMPROVED THESIS

People in life face many challenging obstacles, like a mountain blocking your way in the middle of no where. There is no where else to go... There are secrets, friendship, and a mystery undefined. In what kind of book can you find all of this chaos? Well the book is The Amanda Project, by Stella Lennon. Though on the cover of the book, the author says Stella Lennon but in the back, it says that Melissa Kantor really wrote this book, so who is Stella Lennon? Just like in The Amanda Project, Amanda is considered undefined. She is no where to be found and the obstacles she puts her "friends" through are tremendously mysterious and frightening. Amanda Valentino has been missing for over a month. She didn't talk to much people, though she was far from shy. Amanda goes to a different school every year and appears missing. In every school she finds three people to be her "guide"... I believe that Amanda wanted Callie, Nia and Hal to get along and learn to trust each other. She wanted this because she wants them to work as a team and try to find Amanda. Some reasons to support my idea is that Amanda has been leaving secret letters to each one of the kids and somehow Amanda found out about ALL their personal life. Amanda leaves the letters and other clues and somehow makes the friends trust each other and is "forced" to tell them EVERYTHING! No secrets will be hid from Amanda Valentino.

Comment and please give some suggestions! :P

The Last Olympian

It's still a work in progress, but I think it's pretty ok.

In the world we live in, we are given the task of forming friendships with complete strangers. However, if made with the correct people, they prove to be an invaluable resource. In the book "The Last Olympian", this mutual bond is continuousily tested in the fight for survival against the Titan Kronos and his undead army of the fiery Underworld, where reality ceases to exist and an unexpected hero will emerge as a deciding factor in the clash between Good and Evil, for the the future of the world hangs in the balance and the battle will take place in a metropolis very dear to our hearts, the finantial capital of the globe, New York City!

The Sea Of Monsters By Rick Riordan

Did you ever want to save someone you really cared about? Well in the book "The Sea Of Monsters" Percy wants to save Thalia. He wants to save Thalia she is his sister. There is also another reason why Percy want to save Thalia. It is because if he doesn't save Thalia she won't be able to protect the camp anymore. The camp will be destroyed!!

Someone to Love Me

Sometimes characters have to overcome problems in their life, but sometimes they cant!
In the novel Someone to Love Me by Anne Schraff, Cindy has to move on from problems such as her boyfriend, her family and the way she looks.

Vampalicious by Sienna Mercer

Usually at times, characters have to face their emotions and just walk on......but sometimes the just can't. in the novel Vampalicious by Sienna Mercer, Olivia has to leave her emotions behind and walk on, atleast that is what people are expecting her to do, even though she know' s she can't. Her mother leaves her behind at birth, her real father does not except her, and now her twin sister is leaving her.

The Wedding Planner's Daughter by: Coleen Murtagh Paratore

A sad book that can also bring smiles to peoples faces. Willa has moved around so many times because her mom gets scared of getting her heart broken again. The day after Stella (Willa's mom) got married, her husband (Willa's dad) died and ever since that day, Stella is scared of falling in love again.

Here's a question...

What do you find is hardest about writing an essay?

Your Contributions...

To all of you who blogged tonight, thank you so much! I am so proud of you.  Your intro's are great; what a great start.  See you in class tomorrow.

The Red Pyramid

Well heres my intro/thesis hope you like it,

One Characters belief shouldn't effect the world. In "The Red Pyramid" Sadie Kane could have jeopardized the entire worlds future. One promise, one thousand things could go wrong, because of one belief, one character, one decision. there was another way of dealing with Set, and Carter Kane knew the right path to take.....

Hope you liked it!

THe Amanda Project

Hey Mrs. Tosto! This blog is cool and so this is my first draft of my WHOLE intro.

Secrets, treasures, and friendship, a mystery undefined... What kind of person can pull something that? That person would be Amanda Valentino. Amanda has been missing for over a month and she's been leaving mysterious letters for three kids, and only those three kids. The kids are Callie, Nia and Hal. This is because of Amanda's life. Amanda goes to a different school every year and she keeps her feelings and her personal life to herself. "she keeps her friends close, and her enemies closer..." If you try keeping a secret from her, she'll be sure to find out.

The Pursuit of Happyness by Chris Gardner.

Well.. I started my essay and the intro's short.
Here's what I've done so far:

Life experiences can have a huge impact on peoples' lives. The Pursuit of Happyness, Chris Gardner's autobiography, proves that a terrible past can trigger a newfound motivation for a better future. Growing up in the ghetto with an abusive stepfather, Chris Gardner describes his tiresome journey to success.

my thesis

all i have done so far is my intro let me know what you think:

Most of the time we all end up having an obstacle in our way, a problem we have no choice but to solve it. In the Rick Riordan's novel The Lost Hero Jason has to deal with having amnesia, and because of this he has many problems such as not knowing who he is, not knowing where he's from, and doesn't know who his true friends are

Welcome to our first Blog!

Hi All!!

We will use this blog to talk about what's going on in ELA.  I will be able to monitor what you are blogging.  You are expected to blog about assignments, books, etc.  Use this as an opportunity to talk to your friends about what's going on in class without actually being there!!

Yesterday in class we spoke about our books and tried to become inspired by friends about what we should write about.  Why don't we do some "free blogging" and see if it helps!!
